Ten fingers, ten toes, healthy baby girl born on January 8th, 2012 every parents dream come true. From that day forward this bundle of joy would be known by the name Rosmary Mirembe Uwamahoro. Rosemary was born to a widow who’s husband had died three months before giving birth.

On an evening in April Rosemary was sleeping when a candle fell over and caught her hut on fire. Her older sister was able to make it out but Rosemary was trapped, the hut collapsed on top of her. The neighbors rushed to pull her out but it was too late her  body had been burned. Those perfect little fingers and toes, that healthy bundle of joy would be changed forever by this tragic night.

In God’s goodness, grace and love he looked down and offered our family the privilege of a place in her life ten months later. He took what the devil intended for bad to destroy this precious life and turned it into a story of hope and restoration.

Rosemary has five fingers on her right hand yet distorted. Her left has only four and disfigured they are as well. She has no toes but tiny little feet that she can walk on if you hold her hands. Her lower legs and arms have traces of the fire and are tough like leather in places. She has burns across her face, head and missing part of her right ear. The pain and agony she must have gone though on that night is staggering to this momma’s heart.

I tell you all that to tell you this. Beyond her outward reminders of the fire she is the strongest most precious little girl i have ever met! Her smile with all eight pearly white teeth and that giggle that you can’t help but laugh at. Her beautiful big brown expressive eyes that you can read every emotion through. Her snuggles and soft caresses across your arms. The tiny little raspy voice that can now say mommy and daddy.

When God called us to adopt Rosemary we weren’t counting her fingers and toes, we were counting the months till we could hold her in our arms and make her part of our family. She has been such a blessing to us and so many already. Her personality supersedes her scars and disfigurement.

We have only been in country for two weeks and can I tell you something really amazing... All the families that have been staying with us these past two weeks say they don't even notice her burns all they see is her, who she truly is. Her true beauty.

We feel so honored to be her parents and so blessed that God chose us to walk her through life. It is going to be a long road for our little girl but i can see God has already equipped her with everything she needs. A strong spirit, contagious joy, and a smile that will melt anyones heart. Can’t wait to see her journey unfold. Thank you for all your love and support.

And then there were TWO! :)
